Welcome to Festival Zone for March 2013.

We are about 4 weeks away from launching the 10th edition of the annual Auckland Festival of Photography in June and we are delighted to announce some preview highlights for this year, our introduction for the first time of Portfolio Reviews by a panel of experts - top level camera artists, curators - Ron Brownson, Harvey Benge, Marie Shannon and Dieneke Jensen. Portfolio Reviews 2013  will be held on the second Saturday of the Festival, and we recommend early booking for this FREE opportunity. From mid April details on how to book in will be in our programme.

 

Some highlights for the 2013 signature exhibition artists are - Gil Hanly (NZ), Fiona Pardington (NZ), Allan McDonald (NZ), MikiNobu Komatsu (Japan), Anthony Goicolea (USA), Daniel Crooks (NZ Melbourne based), Edith Amituanai (NZ), Chris McLennan (NZ) plus a select Recent Auckland Photography survey exhibition and publication (image above) at Northart curated by Chris Corson-Scott and Edward Hanfling. Plus international work from Magnum's Chris Steele-Perkins (UK), China's Pingyao International Photography Festival by Chan Haiwen (Shanghai), as well as a range of independant artist shows - Paul Batt (Aus), Fernando Montiel-Klimt (Mexico).

 

Late Addition to 2013 Programme

 

We are delighted to announce this year's Festival will host a late addition from New York. Jim Ramer, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Photography at Parsons The New School of Design will be visiting the Festival to accompany "RE: Conceptualizing Vision" at Elam Projectspace Gallery.  This is an exhibition featuring artists, including Jim, from the Center for Photographic Media and Culture at Parsons. Thanks to Elam Projectspace for their support of this unique opportunity.
