Magnum presents Offside Brazil

As part of the celebration of New Zealand's hosting the U20 Men's FIFA World Cup, the Auckland Festival of Photography and Magnum Photos in Paris, an  internationally renowned photo agency founded by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa in 1947, are bringing this exclusive NZ presentation of Offside Brazil to Auckland. This is the only city in the country to get this Magnum show and the only city in which there is no cultural sector programme being supported and presented in association with the world's second largest soccer tournament - except by us. So it's simple  - don't miss this because it wont be on show anywhere else! Opens 29 May.

Magnum photographers Susan Meiselas, David Alan Harvey, Jonas Bendiksen and Alex Majoli deliver this insightful series of photographs and video about Brazil as a society against the backdrop of the world's largest sporting tournament the 2014 World Cup.

Festival programmes can be downloaded or viewed on our website or we have printed copies available at our office in Parnell. Email info.photo.festival@xtra.co.nz if you can spare time to volunteer during the Festival's 3 weeks we need exhibition sitters, drivers, and general Festival events assistance.

Thanks to Auckland Council

As part of the new regional plan that has been introduced for the long term development of the Auckland region, we are delighted to announce that the Auckland Festival of Photography has been included into the local government budget for annual funding for the next 10 years.  This development will provide the Festival with foundational funding support which can be leveraged to obtain more support from others in the public and private sector. It is a significant development in the regional recognition of us being the most unique, largest and geographically wide event delivery across the entire region. The Festival involves many communities, venues, businesses and ratepayers, plus the artists, curators, academics, students and photographers - professional and amateur who choose to engage with photography as their preferred medium.

For our ongoing fundraising drive for this Festival in 2015, we have 5 donated works up for sale from Anne Noble, Megan Jenkinson, Neil Pardington, Julia Fullerton-Batten and Robert Thornley for the Webbs in house auction being held on 11th June 2015. Plus many more great prints will be auctioned in our 30 June 2015 Auckland Festival of Photography charity fundraiser, see more details here - Charity Auction
