February blog theme - Maori
Auckland Festival of Photography Trust is inviting photographers to show your interpretation of our Maori theme throughout February - the month when the country celebrates Waitangi Day. Auckland region has a rich Maori culture and many Marae and public parks will host Waitangi Day celebrations. Photo's must be taken in Auckland region and your entries can be exisiting photo's from previous month's or new ones taken in February. We want to see a great online exhibition of all people and places Maori. Opens 1st February, a prize for the selected February 2012 Photo of The Month will be a $50 Real Groovy voucher. For inspiration see our previous community themes for Diwali, Lantern, Pasifika.

Great news is we are partnering with D Photo Magazine again in 2012. Our Festival is the largest photographic event in the country each year and D Photo is the leading photography magazine in New Zealand. Hooray for the Festival and hooray for D Photo. Other news
Our Asia Pacific Photoforum partner Festivals in Australia have a busy year planned in the months to June, the 2012 season sees the return of the fantastic FotoFreo in Western Australia kicking off on 17 March (and boy it is hot as a desert when you go around their shows, but well worth it!). Fremantle is lovely little place and they have many off beat venues as well the large public institutions participate. Following closley in April is the fast growing Queensland Festival of Photography organised by the QCP, this is a state wide Festival which fans out from Brisbane and spreads all the way to Cairns in the north of the state. And if you want more before June the newest Festival in the APP is Sydney's HeadOn Festival in it's 3rd year and starting on 4 May til 3 June.
