Brian Brake (1927-1988) was New Zealand's best known photographer from the 1960's to the 1980's. He first made his name as an international Magnum photojournalist, photographing for picture magazines such as Life and Paris-Match.  This touring exhibition of 165 photographic reproductions has been developed and presented by the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, where it was shown to large crowds in Wellington.  It is the first full survey of Brake's work spanning his forty year career; made possible by Wai-man Lau's gift to Te Papa in 2001 of the Brian Brake Collection, of some 110,000 images.

Curator's Talk: Sunday 5 June at 11am by Athol McCredie, Photography Curator at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
