The Film Archive presents American photographer and writer Allan Sekula's film essay The Forgotten Space (2010) co-directed by Noel Burch. The award-winning film, based on Sekula's critical work, Fish Story, continues to understand the contemporary maritime world in relation to globalization. This 112 minute film essay follows container cargo aboard ships, barges, trains and trucks, listening to workers, engineers, planners, politicians, and those marginalized by the global transport system. A range of film materials are used, resulting in an essayistic, visual documentary about one of the most important processes that affects us today. As part of the 5th Auckland Triennial.
