Theme

Primarily interested in constructed realities that hint at greater narratives, Rampling's photographic work shines a spotlight on everyday moments that through her lens crossover from the mundane to the mythic.

Rampling presents Unheimlich, medium format photography with automatic techniques (commonly used by the Surrealists) upon the photo negative surface.

Unheimlich (unhomely) or the uncanny, refers to a strange or anxious feeling caused by familiar objects viewed out of context. The intention being to cause a psychic disruption through animated objects and therefore to look at our everyday surroundings from a creative, playful and otherworldly perspective.
