As part of the Auckland Festival of Photography 2025, Sustain [tautinei] theme presents Chris Corson-Scott.
This exhibition presents reproductions of a selection of images from The Afterglow of Industry, a 10-year project (and new publication on Daylight Books) by artist Chris Corson-Scott. Over this period Corson-Scott traveled the length of New Zealand numerous times, from its urban centers to its most remote landscapes.
Through 79 large-format film photographs (and extended texts in the publication) The Afterglow of Industry explores the aftermath of the industrial era, and the part its underlying ideology played within the project to colonise New Zealand. Through this subject and the artist's approach, the work also reflects on how physical labour and production fits into our current late-capitalist period, and the relationship between this era and climate change today.

6pm: Book launch: Lamplight Books (G01/100 Parnell Road, Parnell, Auckland) with Michael Itkoff, Daylight Books and Chris Corson-Scott, Artist & Writer. On June 4th Chris Corsen-Scott will be discussing themes from The Afterglow of Industry. This ever-relevant monograph brings together photographs from a ten-year project in which artist Chris Corson-Scott repeatedly travelled the extent of Aotearoa New Zealand, seeking out unknown, or remote sites which illuminate our dysfunctional present.
This exhibition is proudly hosted by Precinct Properties throughout the lobbies of the PwC Tower, HSBC Tower, Aon Centre, Jarden House and Deloitte Centre.
