Call For Submissions 2024

Our Festival's official call for submissions/registrations for the 2024 Auckland Festival of Photography will begin on 17th January through to mid-March 2024. More on our new theme 'Believe' [whakapono] read here.

Auckland Festival of Photography is NZ's premium international photographic festival, providing a diverse and inclusive platform, for the exchange of ideas, artistic expression, and engagement with photography and visual culture.

Get planning and join us for the 21st edition of the Festival 30 May to 14 June 2024.  Your participation can be "In Venue" "Online" or "Outdoors". Talks, events, book launches, pub quiz, performance projections and everything in between is invited to take part. Our joint programme model has been in place since 2004 allowing for full creative freedoms with work presented by artists, curators, groups and dealer galleries based in NZ how they and where they choose to show not us, we provide inclusion with our Festival (not venues).

February 2024: 'Festivals' theme

Auckland Photo Blog (APB) - Call for Entries 2024.

February's theme is 'Festivals' big or small, in Auckland or anywhere in NZ. Best Photo of The Month wins $200 Ticketmaster Gift Card.

Developing on the historic archive themes for the APB since it was established in 2006 as an online photo sharing resource for the community of Auckland and sometimes nationally, we are thrilled to announce a new project which interconnects with our archived projects on cultural events, Festivals, traditional performance, music photography and enjoying the visual vibe of our region’s Festivals and around the country through photography.

See our early years for our very 1st APB theme in 2006 was for Diwali, followed by invitations to the community for Chinese New Year - Lantern, Matariki, Pasifika, and other themes such as 'A Bit of A Do' which explored celebrations of culture and events around Auckland, our Music blog in 2011, and our spinoff of to the Music Photo Award from 2021 to 2023. Plus our Youth Photo Award 2019 to 2023, and Auckland Photo Day 2021 and 2022 are displayed as well. Over 17 years of images invited, shared and asset management of the digital infrastructure for the public's enjoyment.

Festivals and celebrations for the Year of The Dragon throughout February include 2024 Chinese New Year Festival & Market Day at ASB Showgrounds, celebrate the Chinese New Year, and the Year of the Dragon on Takapuna Beach and the new Manukau based 'Lantern Festival' during February, as well as events in Wellington, Christchurch and other centers.

We invite new images to be taken during February and any existing images in the last 2 years on theme - 'Festivals'. Previous entries to the Auckland Photo Blog 2020 to 2023 are ineligible, as we want to create a new online display for the public's enjoyment.

Call for Photographers - Big Gay Out 2024

It's Pride next month, on February 18th, at Pt Chevalier, the annual Big Gay Out in Auckland is calling for volunteer photographers to assist with documenting the day, of course we're happy to help our Auckland community get the message out.

Donate $20 to support the work we do, all donations are NZ tax credit eligible via our Give A Little page and can be made monthly to help keep us afloat in these challenging Covid recovery times.

All donations received go towards the ongoing sustainability of the annual Festival activities.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY DONATION?

The Festival team works all year-round creating opportunities so that photographers from every genre can present their new work. We provide and maintain the platform, profile and network necessary to present you with the best opportunities to showcase photography in our annual Festival.


Festival exhibitors can have the opportunity to join the 2024 community and be part of a Festival that showcases both international and national artists at diverse stages of their careers. All funds received as admin fees go towards the ongoing sustainability of the annual Festival and associated activities.
