Julie Zhu; It's Okay, I'm Asian; Catching the Howick and Eastern buses means that your fellow passengers will always include old Asian people. They are the cutest type of people in the world. As I discovered, Friday appears to be grocery day for many.
Julie Zhu; Day In The Life; For a photography project at Elam last year, we had to create a series reflecting our domestic spaces. I had recently been spending up to 3 hours a day on public transport at the time, and felt the Howick and Eastern buses were almost like my third home. I decided to base my photography project on the repetitiveness of routine, and this series arose out of that idea. For these photos, I sat at the Botany Town Centre bus stop for about four hours one day and took photos of all the bus drivers that passed by.
Julie Zhu; Drib; This guy literally fell asleep on me one day on a Howick and Eastern bus ride. Pleasant.
