Alexander Masters' biography of homeless man Stuart Shorter asks the question 'When does he go from being one of us to one of them?' This exhibition of photographs by homeless Auckland man Gary, originally for TV3's 60 Minutes, may provide some answers. The photos reflect Gary's unique perception of the world as a rough sleeper, and documents Auckland's other homeless, revealing not only the challenges of life as one of 'them' but the shared humanity that makes them also part of 'us'.
