Manukau Libraries hosted a teen photo competition All Eyes on Manukau over the 2008-2009 school holidays. It was open to youth aged 12 to 20 years. Youths were challenged to take photographs of their Manukau, in the hope they would challenge stereotypes and provoke comment. It was suggested that they could take photographs of their friends and local neighborhood, favorite places and activities, their family, favorite books and things. The competition received 57 entries.
