Auckland Festival of Photography presents Guillaume Riviere in partnership with Toulouse MAP 11. The third edition of the MAP Toulouse Festival of Photography will start in May 2011.

Guillaume is a photojournalist and his new work will be on show during the Festival as part of the cultural exhibition exchange between Auckland and Toulouse, cementing the cultural and sporting ties that exist between France and New Zealand in the build-up to this year's Rugby World Cup.

Who can deny the power of sport to generate equality, tolerance and a socially cohesive environment. Photography is a universal language that has to power to provoke, affirm, educate, challenge and speak directly to the viewer.

Toulouse is a city in southwest France on the banks of the River Garonne; with more than 1,100,000 inhabitants, Toulouse is the fourth largest city in France. We share common cultural themes such as an interest in Rugby union - the region Midi-Pyrenees in the south-west of France is even called "The Land of the Oval Ball".

"Celebration of the image, preview of a photographic open-air concert, our Festival is a national and annual gathering of all the enthusiasts and amateurs of photography.  Our desire is to open up culture, making it available to everybody, bringing it to the streets.

We are glad and honoured to partner this year with the Auckland Festival of Photography that pursues the same goals.  And has the same key points: See, Learn and Meet."
