A joint exhibition of new works by Becky Nunes and Jan Young, surface offers both a barrier and an invitation to the gaze. In her series of still lifes, Nunes engages with ideas of tapu, ritual and superstition, where objects accrue meaning through repeated acts of devotion. Young's direct portraits of women invite the viewer to contemplate persona without the presence of environmental clues.
