This exhibition features photography by Simon Runting, commissioned by Watercare, documenting the massive scale and human effort behind the Central Interceptor. The images create a visual timeline of the project, from early planning through to construction and completion, highlighting the collaboration between Watercare and its many partners. The Central Interceptor is Watercare’s major wastewater tunnel and pump system, carrying wastewater from central and western Auckland to the Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant, reducing overflows, protecting waterways, and supporting Auckland’s future growth.
