Festival Fundraising Auction

As part of our ongoing fundraising drive for this Festival in 2015, we have for sale works from Anne Noble, Neil Pardington, Julia Fullerton-Batten and Roberta Thornley and Megan Jenkinson in the Webbs in-house auction being held on 11th June 2015 at 630pm. Viewing open now at 23-25 Falcon Street, Parnell.

Photo World - Geoffrey Heath

The latest in the 2015 series of Festival interviews with NZ based photographers by the Photo World magazine in China is published, featuring Geoffrey Heath, an Auckland artist who's work has been previously selected to be exhibited in the 2013 Pingyao International Photography Festival in Shanxi province. The world's most populated country, hosts the annual Pingyao event each September.

More about Geoffrey's work in this Chinese language magazine, published in Beijing. We are delighted to support NZ photography in China, with this 8 page spread on Geoffrey's work. Previous Photo World 2015 issues have covered the work of Solomon Mortimer and Anita Jacobsen.

The Auckland Festival of Photography is an official partner of Pingyao through the Asia Pacific Photoforum. As part of the cultural exhibition exchanges between Pingyao and Auckland since 2012, this year in Silo 6 is Han Jiangang's Paramita, a 3 meter high, 586 piece photographic installation specifically designed for the Auckland Festival of Photography 2015.

Lay of the Land, Papakura Art Gallery last few days of this regional look at the changing landscapes of Auckland by some leading artists. Closes 13 June, 2pm.

Route 52/The Forgotten at Olivia Laita Gallery Showroom opens at 6pm, 11 June in Onehunga. Open over the weekend until 4pm on Saturday 13th June.

The Black Box Project, by Jenny Tomlin opens Monday 8th June, on pinhole photography, closes Sunday 14 June at 4pm.

These are the Festival's series of free talks, screenings and workshops happening at various venues this week in the Festival;

From 29 May throughout to 19 June projections - Two videos will be screened during the Magnum exhibition - one is an Offside Brazil project video (7' 36" duration) featuring all the photographers involved, both Brazilian collectives and Magnum photographers and the other is a solo short film (8'36" duration) produced by Jonas Bendiksen. Aotea Centre, Queen Street, Auckland.

As part of the annual celebration of Auckland photography that is backbone of the Festival (and due to our not running our very popular 24 hour day in the life competition - Auckland Photo Day this year) - we have an "Auckland" theme for June 2015 for all of you who love taking part in Auckland Photo Day, you can shoot your best shots throughout the whole month of June. The June 'Photo of The Month' for the "Auckland" theme will win a bunch of stuff to celebrate the great region we all share.

Photo of the Month June 2015 prize pack - All about enjoying Auckland - 1 winner only - $100 movie vouchers, a voucher for Waiwera Private Spa for 2, a voucher trip to Rangitoto Island for 1, plus 1 voucher x bungy jump off the Harbour Bridge and a dinner voucher to the value of $150 - No vouchers are transferable for cash.
