Auckland Photo Day 2022
Counting down to the 18th edition of Auckland Photo Day, this Saturday 11th June, our annual 24 hour photo challenge sponsored again this year by Fujifilm NZ. Great camera prizes are available for images the judges select as their 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize. Terms and Conditions apply.
Join our free community 'Photo Walk' at 10am from Aotea Square with Fujifilm team and gear for the community participants to test, walking to wind your way through the city to the waterfront, socialise & shoot to join in the visual voice of Auckland. Wear weather appropriate clothing if raining. Timings for the walk and meeting points, 1 = Aotea Center @ 10am Meet and Greet, walk from here to, 2 = Freyberg Place @ 10:45am - Join from here, 3 = Britomart Valet Central @ 11:30am - Join from here, 4 = Ferry Terminal @ 12pm - Join from here and 5 = Silo Park @ 1pm - Ends here.
Great camera prizes are available up for grabs, submit great images for our judges to select as their favourites from anywhere in Auckland region. And for our popular 'Peoples Choice' prize. Judges will be announced soon.

YOUTH PHOTO AWARD 2022
We're delighted to announce the 4th annual Youth Photo Award winner of the 2022 Alex Mao Prize, is Sophie Hansen, with her gritty portrait of her Dad's working hands welding a new object in his shed. Congratulations to Sophie who wins NZ$1200 cash. Plus a print of her winning photo donated by PCL Imaging.

Kellie Masiutama; He Taonga tuku iho - 2nd Prize
And to our 2nd prize winner, Kellie Matsiutama, who wins a framed print donated by PCL Imaging, of her winning image 'He Taonga tuku iho' which she made to be part her exhibition in the Festival this year, but it didnt make it in, the show is open at Papakura Art Gallery until 25 June. She says "The hands with the pounamu is represented as myself being cleansed in my waters. The stunning Wahine represents myself in present time not fully healed. But content".
This year's entries were from around New Zealand, with a variety of subjects and skills, we thank everyone who took part, see all entries here. Our judge was Linda Tyler, Associate Professor, University of Auckland, and currently teaches art writing and curatorial practice at Honours level in the Art History Department.

Photographer and musician, Greta Anderson has created tributes to the female band musicians she has been inspired by in the small independent music scene she grew up in. Greta defines this new body of work as photography of association.
PONSONBY
The Adaptations project aims to build awareness of largely unseen and unheard disability communities through a photographic investigation of adapted, fabricated and customized objects used to assist its members in their daily lives. Opens 6pm, Tuesday 7th June.

This photographic series is a window into the unseen efforts of so many. From the initial demolition of existing structures, through to the completion of the first tunnel from Maungawhau Station.
